The last year has just flown by! Last year we saw a fantastic response to #Lovingthesmile. Lots of beautiful photos were shared and it created a really good feeling seeing our daughters and sons, friends, family members in these happy shots.
However, we are all too aware of the flip side of Rett syndrome . . . the roller-coaster ride that can send us crashing down with each new or worsening problem or those steep climbs up to achieve the smallest but most rewarding step forward.
This October, Rett UK would like to ask you to engage with us in raising awareness about the devastating impact that the syndrome has on those directly affected and their families. Only by people really understanding the true nature of disorder will we be able to win over new hearts and minds who will join us in searching for better solutions to a host of difficulties encountered on a daily basis. Solutions to improving support on a local level, solutions to getting access to specialists for children and adults where ever you are in the country, solutions to a myriad of health problems.
Please join us in our drive to reach more people who have the potential either through their knowledge, their resources and their passion to help us find solutions that make a real difference to families affected by Rett syndrome.
Each day for the next month we will publish a fact about Rett syndrome along with the photo of Rett UK Awareness Campaign. Please share it on your social media feeds, please encourage your friends and family to share it. Together we will find solutions and together we will make a difference.
Fact1 We still often hear people saying they have never heard of Rett syndrome, yet Rett syndrome is the second most common cause of profound disability in females after Downs syndrome.
