As part of the ongoing collaboration between Rett UK, the Dutch Rett Syndrome Association and the Rett Expertise Centre Netherlands, we recently organised a short series of webinars focused on literacy. These webinars were part of the ongoing programmes delivered to both the UK and Dutch Networks for Communication Professionals working with people with Rett syndrome.
We were delighted to welcome international guest speakers to share with us the best ways to translate theory into practice when developing the literacy skills of people with Rett syndrome and other complex communication disorders.
The webinars included:
- 30 April 2020, Reading Avenue (with Tina Voizey, Tobii Dynavox, USA)
- 2 April 2020, Comprehensive Literacy Instruction for Beginning Conventional Learners: Translating Theory into Practice (with Maureen Donnelly, Tobii Dynavox, USA)
- 6 March 2020, Comprehensive Literacy Instruction for Emergent Learners: Translating Theory into Practice (with Maureen Donnelly, Tobii Dynavox, USA)
- 19 February 2020, Why is Literacy Critical in AAC? (with a recording of the keynote address by Dr. Karen Erickson, Center for Literacy and Disability Studies, Chapel Hill, USA)
